Cambodian Commerce Minister Advocates for Increased Global Investment

PHNOM PENH, June 5, 2024 - At the JCI ASPAC (Junior Chamber International Asia and Pacific) Business Dialogue and Matching event this morning in Siem Reap, Cambodia’s Commerce Minister, Mrs. Cham Nimul, made a compelling case for the vast investment opportunities available in Cambodia.

Hosted under the theme "Business Opportunities in Cambodia," the event saw collaborative discussions led by Sok Soken, Minister of Tourism, alongside various key stakeholders.

During her opening speech, Mrs. Cham Nimul outlined the robust and dynamic business environment in Cambodia, noting the country’s impressive average economic growth of over 7% annually over the past two decades. She credited this growth to Cambodia’s political stability, sound economic policies, and the government’s commitment to fostering public-private partnerships.

The Minister emphasized that the Cambodian government is keen on enhancing the domestic regulatory frameworks to boost business competitiveness and improve the overall business landscape. She invited investors to capitalize on Cambodia’s economic vitality, strategic geographic positioning, and its strides in digital technology.

“Cambodia is open for business, ready to welcome investors looking to tap into our growing economy, strategic location, or cutting-edge digital advancements,” stated Mrs. Cham Nimul.

Highlighting digital transformation as a cornerstone of the nation’s development agenda, Mrs. Cham Nimul pointed to several key initiatives: the Cambodia Data Exchange (CAMdx), verify.gov.kh, the National Single Window, CambodiaTrade.com, and the Cambodia Digital Economy and Society Policy Framework 2021-2035. She also mentioned the Digital Skill Development Road Map (2024-2035) and innovative digital payment systems like Bakong, illustrating the country’s focus on leveraging digital technologies to boost efficiency, transparency, and competitiveness in the global market.
